Listening to God - Third Sunday of Lent - March 15th, 2020

A seminarian was on a secular college campus and he approach a group of people.  When he reached them, they were kind of tense and quiet as they stared at him.  He said to them, “I have a very important question to ask you, if you were a hot dog, would you eat yourself?”  They laughed.

After this initial question, he was past the tension and the group of people were more relaxed and willing to talk to him.  He continued the conversation causally and built up some rapport with them.  Once he had some level of relationship and trust, he shifted the conversation to more serious things like dating practices and going to church on Sunday.  Notice that he didn’t start with the serious things but first tried to build some kind of relationship.

We can see Jesus doing something similar with the woman at the well. Listen to my homily to learn how to better listen to God!

Lies of the Devil - First Sunday of Lent - March 1st, 2020

...After two years as a seminarian, while I was on retreat, God revealed to me a lie, one that I had believed since childhood.  A lie so deep within me that I didn’t know that it was there. ... I don’t know with certainty exactly when or how I started to believe the lie or where it came from.  Maybe I as a little boy, while trying to understand the world around me, I came up with it myself.  It’s also possible that lie was planted in me by Satan or one of His fallen angels. ... Listen to my homily to learn more about the lies of the Devil.
