Pentecost Sunday - May 31st, 2020

When I was confirmed about 23 years ago, I wasn’t really sure what it was all about or what it meant.  I was a fallen away Catholic at the time, and mostly was just going along with it because that was what we were doing at school.  I mistakenly was told that this was like my declaration that I am Catholic, or that I choose to be Catholic.  But that’s not really what the sacrament is about.

Good Coming Out of Evil - Ascension - May 24th, 2020

Ten weeks ago, was the last time we had public Sunday Masses.  What a crazy ten weeks it has been.  When restrictions were being put in place about 12 weeks ago, I didn’t expect them to change so quickly and become as intense as they did.  I would have never guessed that public Masses would be suspended.  But, there was one week where the restrictions seemed to be changing almost every day.  It was very different and confusing to me.  Once the “stay-at-home” orders were in place, there was some stability but still a lot of uncertainty.  And now, the restrictions are being lifted and we can gather again.  Thanks be to God!  We don’t really know what will happen next, though, but we hope that things will continue to get better.

I imagine it must have been similar for the disciples...
