Easter Hope - April 12th, 2020

Alleluia!  He is risen!  Jesus Christ is risen from the dead!  Happy Easter, everyone!  This is a joyous occasion.  When Jesus Christ gave up His life on the Cross, many of His followers were confused.  They were convinced that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah, but couldn’t figure out how that was possible since He died and didn’t seem to establish His Kingdom before His death.  Then, it turns out, they were right.  He is the Messiah, and He came back from the dead to prove it! ...

The Resurrection of the physical Body of Christ, gives us hope, not only for our eternal life, but also the return of our ability to gather in person again.  Hope and joy are how we are called to respond to the Resurrection.  When all seemed lost to the disciples, the news of the Resurrection gave them hope in all of God’s promises.  Suffering and death did not get the last word.  Jesus conquered them.  The fears and anxieties of the disciples were overcome by the grace of the Resurrection.

We are an Easter people.  We too are called to be filled with hope even in the midst of the present difficulties.  Since Christ overcame death, He can overcome our fears and anxieties too.  He can give us joy even now.  This is Easter, let us be filled with the joy of the Resurrection! ...
